A Warrington-headquartered software company working across the maritime industry has secured funding in a move which has allowed it to become employee-owned. It is now eyeing further growth.

Established in 1998, GTMaritime provides a range of technological services designed to allow for effective communications and data transfer over satellite.

It employs 28 staff.

The transaction has allowed owners Robert Kenworthy and Chris Morgan to sell their majority stake to an employee ownership trust (EOT), which will hold the shares for the benefit of GTMaritime workers.

The funding has been provided by Santander Corporate & Commercial banking in Manchester.
