Miller Developments has announced the second occupier deal at the 2.2m sq ft extension of its Warrington logistics park.
The developer will build out a new 505,000 sq ft distribution centre for Iceland Foods, which is taking a 20-year lease on what it will use as a regional distribution centre.
Omega West is an 184-acre extension of Omega, located at Junction 8 of the M62. It was consented in November 2021 following a public inquiry. Existing occupiers at the earlier Omega development include Asda, THG, Royal Mail, Hermes, Amazon, Domino’s and Brakes.
David Milloy, managing director at Miller Developments said: “Since we obtained planning consent for Omega West, occupier interest has been very strong.
“We are delighted to have exchanged contracts with Iceland and are pleased they have chosen Omega as the location of their new distribution centre, to support their continued growth.”
With outline consent already in place, Miller Developments will submit a reserved matters application for the Iceland building and associated infrastructure this month.
The developer is preparing to start construction in September, with completion expected in autumn 2023.
Infrastructure work has started on site to facilitate Unit 1, a 878,000 sq ft distribution facility to be occupied by Home Bargains. Miller said there is also interest in the proposed 300,000 sq ft Unit 2 building, for which a reserved matters applciation was made last month.
