Council to host budget breakfast event

The council is hosting a special event to tell local businesses, voluntary and community organisations and residents about its budget plans for the financial year ahead.

The budget breakfast event will take place on Wednesday 8 February at Warrington Town Hall at 8am. Registration for the event is essential to ensure the venue doesn’t exceed capacity.

Co-hosted by the council’s Deputy Leader and cabinet member for finance, Cllr Cathy Mitchell and the council’s Deputy Chief Executive, Lynton Green, it will give people the opportunity to find out more about the council’s budget plans and how it plans to continue supporting the town’s residents, businesses and wider communities.

While the event is open to anyone, local businesses and members of Warrington’s voluntary and community organisations will find the budget breakfast particularly relevant.

Cllr Mitchell said: “Having experienced £205million in budget cuts since 2010, we must save at least a further £13million by 2024. This year, with rampant inflation rates and costs of service delivery increasing, presenting a balanced budget for many councils will be a challenge.

“We will use the business breakfast event as an opportunity to discuss our approach to balancing our budget this financial year, alongside getting your views on your priorities for the year ahead.

“It’s vital that the council’s relationship with local business and residents remains strong. This event will therefore give us the opportunity to set out our plans to businesses and residents, giving us the opportunity to forge new links and share ideas.” To confirm your attendance and book your place at the event, visit the Eventbrite page
