Nuclear labs build up activity as COVID-19 lockdown eases

NUCLEAR laboratories and engineering test rigs at Warrington are building back up to full spectrum activity as the COVID-19 lockdown eases.
The facilities operated by Jacobs at Birchwood Park have remained open throughout the lockdown to provide critical support for the UK.’s energy security and defence.
Clients who depend on the company’s 12,000m² of laboratories and engineering test rigs at Birchwood include:
* EDF, which operates the UK’s eight civil nuclear power stations;
* Hinkley Point C, the UK’s first new nuclear power station for 25 years;
* The UK’s Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme, which is responsible for the reactors which power the Royal Navy’s submarines;
* Sellafield Ltd, which is responsible for the safe and secure operation and clean-up of Europe’s most complex nuclear site on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
