The Circle - The Future
The Warrington Festival: Sport Culture Entertainment saw a month-long series of events take place throughout the town in September organised by a board of partners including LiveWire, Warrington Borough Council, Warrington Wolves, Culture Warrington and The English Half Marathon.
The Festival culminated in the 7th English Half Marathon on Sunday 20th September that saw 5,000 runners take to the streets of Warrington in the 10K and Half Marathon challenges on a new route that finished at the iconic Golden Gates of the Town Hall.
Warrington & Co. were proud to partner with EHM to offer the first Warrington & Co. Corporate Challenge for local businesses and organisations to enter into some healthy competition. Teams representing LiveWire, Parasol, Clearsky, A1 Smiths Tree Care and Sellafield took up the challenge along with our very own MD Steve Park, who recorded a respectable 1hr11mins in the 10K race.
The overall victor was Charlie Batho of Parasol with a very impressive 35:59 result.
Competitors were able to enjoy the exclusive VIP area post-race and enjoy the complementary food, drink and sports massage on offer.
We were delighted to be supported on the day by Adrian Derbyshire, Great Britain athlete and 2 x Gold Medal winner and Public Health Warrington who are launching the next challenge to the business community via their Health in Business Summit on 29th January 2016 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Evidence shows that organisations who have implemented a wellbeing programme improve productivity, increase client satisfaction and experience financial benefits. Healthy workplaces are important to the town too – where productivity is high, sickness levels are low and work opportunities for local people continue to be created. By working together, we can all help to make Warrington a healthy, thriving town.
Warrington is a Healthy City, part of a global movement for urban health, led and supported by the World Health Organisation.
The Health in Business programme is modelled on best evidence nationally in the UK and internationally.
Businesses are invited to take part in the Warrington initiative to improve health and wellbeing in the workplace, impact on the environment, and jobs for local people. Please join us in shaping the programme, sharing good practice and signing up to initiatives that are beneficial to companies, staff, customers and local residents.
