Lane End starts on luxury Lymm homes

Lane End has started work on the redevelopment of the former Cotebrook Nursing Home in Lymm, which will make way for six houses marketed at more than £1m each.

The development off Oughtrington Lane will replace the nursing home, which has been vacant since 2015, and includes six six-bedroom houses designed by architect PRP. The detached homes near Lymm High School and St Peter’s Church will together cover nearly 50,000 sq ft and include private gardens.

Plans were granted for Lane End’s project in August last year, despite a number of objections from local residents, who had argued against the demolition of the locally-listed nursing home. Residents had also argued the scheme was contrary to the council’s green belt policy.

However, planning officers said the scheme would be “proportionate” to the site and said the “design and construction of the new build [homes] would harmonise with the surrounding development”.

Lane End plans to complete the homes by early 2019, and plans to market the development under its newly-formed Residence brand. Prices start at £1.4m.
