Manchester has been ranked as the best performing city in the UK – outside of London – for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) projects. Warrington, Liverpool and Salford all make the top 20.
EY’s 2018 UK Attractiveness Survey shows that 45 such schemes located in the city last year, representing 43 per cent of all North West activity in 2017.
Warrington welcomed ten projects, Liverpool accommodated nine and Salford secured six.
The region recorded its highest number of FDI initiatives over the past decade, with a 17 per cent increase in 2017 compared to the previous year – up from 90 to 105. Also, the number of jobs secured by investments in the North West more than doubled from 3,498 to 7,035.
