Vehicle rental firm drives off with counterpart

A vehicle rental business which employs an 80-strong workforce at four offices across the UK has been taken over by a Scottish counterpart.
TOM Vehicle Rental has acquired Transflex for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2011 by Peter Abdale and Steve Smith, the business operates a fleet of 3,500 vehicles and has offices in Stockton, Buckinghamshire, Bristol and Warrington. Late last year, it was named in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table, which ranks Britain’s private businesses with t he fastest-growing sales.
The combined business becomes the third largest light commercial, flexible rental group by assets in the UK with a rental fleet of more than 16,000 vans, trucks, trailers and cars across a UK depot network of 15 sites.
