A Warrington-headquartered metal recycling giant is optimistic for the future despite the market continuing to be challenging, particularly in the UK and Europe.
European Metal Recycling can date its heritage back to the 1940s, with the group now employing about 4,000 staff across 150 locations.
Its core business is the recycling of scrap metal from a range of sources such as end-of-life vehicles, industry, construction and demolition.
For the year to 31 December 2018, European Metal Recycling reported turnover of £3.36bn compared to £3.3bn the prior period.
Underlying EBITDA was down from £189m to £177m, while total pre-tax profits increased from £45m to £63m.
