Wakefield-headquartered automotive retailer The Car People has achieved record revenue in an ‘exciting year’ for the business.
In the year to 30 April 2017, The Car People increased turnover by 7 per cent from £178.7m to £190.9m, while pre-tax proﬁt climbed by £185,000 from £6.46m in the previous financial year to £6.65m.
During the period, the business operated from three sites, the main being its head office in Wakefield and two other sites in Manchester and Sheffield.
The Wakefield site was expanded over the year to ensure that the business could showcase more than 850 cars at a time.
Over the course of the year average employee numbers at the business increased to 474 from 440.
The Car People also opened a new site in Warrington in June this year, which the business’ managing director Martyn Carnell believes will up the business’ turnover by 25 per cent.
