A major outline planning application, submitted by Omega Warrington Ltd, for the next stage of development on Omega South has been approved by Warrington Borough Council’s planning committee.
The plans include 1,100 new homes, including 20% starter homes, along with local shops, restaurants and cafes, public house/ bar, a care home, and a hotel, supported by extensive landscaping and wildlife habitat preservation.
Transport studies were undertaken to inform local road and junction improvements and work is already underway on part of Omega South for the construction of a new primary school, Barrow Hall. The school is due to open in September 2016 and will serve existing local residents and the new community at Omega.
The plans will now be referred to the Department for Communities and Local Government before a final planning permission can be issued.
Omega Warrington is a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties, in partnership with landowner the Homes and Communities Agency and supported by Warrington Borough Council and the Cheshire and Warrington LEP.
