A technical consulting specialist which has offices across the UK is to be acquired by international engineering company Thornton Tomasetti.

MMI Engineering specialises in the risk management of man-made and natural hazards across the oil and gas, nuclear, utilities and infrastructure sectors. Clients include Shell, BP, Chevron and Sellafield.

Headquartered in Warrington, it employs 60 staff across offices in Aberdeen, York, Bristol and Ballymena in the UK, along with global sites in Perth and Houston.

Currently owned by Geosyntec, the business will be rebranded as MMI Thornton Tomasetti in the UK and Australia, and will operate under the Thornton Tomasetti name in the US.

The deal is scheduled to close later this month.
