Cheshire-based Hultons Landscapes has been appointed by Skanska-BAM Nuttall to deliver £1.5m worth of landscaping works for the new Ordsall Chord.
The phased works will see Hultons’ 30-strong project team complete more than 43,000sq ft of paving and walling along the new route, which is part of Network Rail’s £1bn-plus Great North Rail Project.
It will also install new greenery where the new line crosses the River Irwell and a lighting system to enhance the historic Stephenson’s Bridge and other Grade I-listed structures. The contract has now begun and is due to complete in 2018.
The appointment is the latest commercial success for the Lymm business and follows its acquisition of Wright Landscapes at the end of last year which has allowed it to expand its UK presence.
