Warrington-headquartered ESR Technology – which is behind the National Centre of Tribology (NCT) – is set to collaborate with The Henry Royce Institute.
The pair will work towards the advancement of tribology and advanced materials engineering, with the deal being the first of its kind for The Henry Royce Institute.
Tribology is the science and engineering of interacting surfaces in relative motion. A Working Group under the chairmanship of Peter Jost reported to the government in 1966 and first coined the word, as well as recommending the establishment of three such centres in the UK. The NCT was one of these, opening in 1968.
