The Manchester office of mid-market private equity investor Endless has completed the acquisition of retail giant American Golf in a move which safeguards the jobs of more than 900 staff.
The company was established in 1970 and sells a range of clubs, equipment, shoes and clothing. With a turnover of approximately £140m, it employs more than 50 PGA professionals and 20 master fitters who provide custom fitting services and specialist in-store advice.
The deal includes 112 of the 132 American Golf retail stores across the UK and Eire, as well as the Americangolf.co.uk and Onlinegolf.co.uk websites. The roles safeguarded include those at its Warrington head office.
Endless Manchester partner Tom Jack and investment director Richard Harrison, both of whom will join the American Golf board, worked on the transaction. It is the latest investment from the firm’s £525m Fund IV and follows the backing of Bathstore and The Works.
