Lancaster University is inviting business to take part in two funded programmes.

Lancaster University has launched a £7.1 million low-carbon research and development programme to support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Liverpool, run by their award-winning Centre for Global Eco-Innovation.

The Centre delivers high quality, business-led research to create eco-innovative technologies, products and services and has engaged with over 300 businesses on research projects which have created over 120 new products and services with environmental benefits, and 260 jobs.

If your business has a low carbon research idea, you can tap into research expertise, a six month management programme, facilities and funding to bring your ideas to fruition through funded research and development initiatives with support worth up to £100,000.

Current projects include innovative approaches to measuring air quality, insulation in buildings, rewetting of coastal land to store carbon, and energy generation from small-scale hydro installations.

The projects on offer are part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Read more

The University is also seeking full time summer internship opportunities for science and technology students during July-September 2017. Internships are sought for students chemistry, computing and communications, cyber-security, engineering, environmental science, maths and statistics, physics, and psychology. Some funding is available for SMEs.

Last summer 41 students were recruited into internships with 100% of host organisations involved reporting that they would be happy to recruit another Lancaster intern. On average, approximately half of interns gain further employment with their hosts-it’s a great way to trial new staff. Read more
