County Planning and Dove Architecture have obtained planning permission for a rooftop terrace to be built at the Treasury Building in Warrington’s Palmyra Square.
The rooftop restaurant and bar extension to the grade two-listed building is to be built for Italian restaurant San Lorenzo, and will overlook Museum Street, part of the town’s conservation area.
The proposals have undergone several design iterations to reach agreement with the planners, County said. Rooftop extensions and outside seating areas have been contentious within the borough in recent years, with several proposals in food and drink hotspot Stockton Heath being refused consent, including Olive Tree brasserie in the former Lloyds bank in June 2018.
San Lorenzo opened in 2018 at the buildings, which also houses other restaurants and sits alongside the Parr Hall. Construction work on the extension is expected to get under way next month.
