A software services specialist which numbers some of the best-known businesses in the telecoms industry as customers has been bought by a global counterpart.
Founded in 1987 as part of Martin Dawes Telecommunications, MDS Global started as an in-house billing system. When MDT was sold to BT Cellnet in 1999, the Warrington company became a standalone business.
It now works with communication providers in the telecoms industry, supplying cloud services to clients including O2, BT and Vodafone. Based at The Point, it also has operations in Limerick and employs a workforce of about 215 staff.
The company has been bought by Volaris Group, which specialises in acquiring, strengthening and growing vertical market technology companies. It operates across more than 30 countries.
