Town Centre BID (Business Improvement District)
The Warrington town centre Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined geographical area in Warrington town centre, where businesses were given the opportunity to vote in support of a five year BID to collectively invest up to £1.8million in a range of projects and services to enhance the town centre as a trading environment.
Warrington & Co supported the establishment of the Warrington BID team, who were successful obtaining a majority vote in favour of creating a Business Improvement District.
The team comprises a group of private sector led retailers and companies who plan to invest in promotion & marketing, better transport links, safety initiatives, events and improvements to make Warrington town centre a cleaner, greener and better place to shop, work and spend leisure time.
The Warrington town centre BID actively funds and delivers added value services within the town. The BID does not, and cannot be used to fund services that the council or other public bodies have a statutory duty to provide.
The added value projects and services delivered by the BID are managed and controlled by the businesses who are the principle funders of the BID. The entire project is business led, with the BID’s funds coming from an additional, mandatory levy on all eligible businesses, with a rateable value greater than £15,000.
